The
general purpose of this Website is to contribute to the development of
geotechnical understanding in Senegal and to allow its users to get more
information about our discipline from any part of the world.
Engineering
Geology and Geotechnical Engineering have been significant and major
parts of Engineering since they were introduced in the early 1920s by
Karl Terzaghi (father of soil mechanics) as an integral
discipline of Civil Engineering in the United States Higher Education
system. The ongoing and continuing development of the discipline
everywhere in the world has made it one of the engineers’ prestigious
and popular fields of interest in Engineering Schools. It is the aim of
this website to enable engineers in our developing countries to share
this enthusiasm and better appreciate Geotechnical Engineering and
Geo-technology. This Website will offer users the opportunity to develop
their skills by access to the important
free database available worldwide. Another purpose of this website will
be to facilitate engineer's exchange of information and experience
through the mailing list database.
There
will be no language restrictions; geotech
is an open free language website devoted to our region with only one
aim: the development of Geotechnical and Environmental Engineering. In
this website we shall also perform comparison between techniques for the
external design of structures. In this sense, it will show users the
possibilities engineers have to improve living conditions. The ultimate
goal of this website is to launch a Geotechnical Engineering Electronic
Journal (GeoEJ). This Journal will be an open forum for
Engineers, Higher Education teachers, and Researchers to share their
works in the field of Civil, Geological and Environmental Engineering.
